Wednesday I only got to the garage for a little over an hour, but I did get to test, that the gears makes no noices in the 2nd rear axle, by mounting the left axle pipe again:
Yesterday I had my first busyness dinner, and this weekend I'm helping my brother move, so no garage for me these days. But monday night I'm back!
So, as the differential stopped me from taking Ole-Henry to Jungle Fever, once again I went by train. The plan was to take a slow trip in the old green, so I had friday off, which I instead spend the first half with my girlfriend and other half getting there in good time.
First thing, I saw, was West's Harley and Matchless:
Then I once again fell for a Cadillac- when I'm done racing Fords, I'll cruise a Caddy!
Leif's '61 Chevy loaded with people:
And the bike, I came to ride alot that weekend:
I only took this half good picture, so pictures below are taken by friends:
Great ride, needs brakes though. Great race, did in in 2min08 and 2min12, so I didn't win. Therefore big congrats to Morten Højbye for doing two laps within 2/10 of a second on his Harley, and especially to Richard West, aka "miniWest", for doing two laps in his Anglia rod within same tenth of a second! That's gonna be hard to beat!
Going home sunday, I catched a ride with a good friend of mine and fellow MAN Diesel & Turbo employee, Stig, who drove his '57 Pontiac. We catched up with Thomas and Kim in their '32s, pretty sight:
We had both heard of this abandoned oval test track of an old brake shoe factory, and decided to stop by. It was a great experience, seeing Stig in his rather large and heavy car going by flat fooded, and I just hope, I'll be able to stop by in Ole-Henry, before the track is torn down due to new roading projects in that area.
Back in the garage monday, I drained the spare rear axle, and it looked good!
Pulling it from the chassis:
After taking it apart, this was found inside:
One broken tooth:
No broken teeth:
Pulling the old of Ole-Henry:
Luckly there were just enough space above:
Dannerrs rear axle shop:
Tuesday I'll go to the model A club and get parts, and wednesday I'll be back in the garage, putting it back together.
Keep 'em kruzin!

Yesterday I started by removing the top of the gear box, and everthing seemed to be in order. Then I started moving the gears, and the output shaft could turn about 60 degrees! Victor came by, and he could hear the 'clonck' sound clearly from the differential. So I drained it, and this muddy and greasy water came out:
Next plan is to take the rear axle off the frame for the pick-up to be, so I had Vic help me pull out the semi-rolling frame. And then I took the oppurtunity to dry cruise the pick-up for the first time- at least both the frame and body.
We turned the frame, so rear is out, started loosening the axle, and jacking up the frame to roll out the axle. Then I plan on using monday to take it off and go it through, order needed parts tuesday, and start assembly wednesday.
I now have a healthy sounding engine, so I took Ole-Henry out for a spin yesterday evening. As everything seemed to be in order, I decided to replace the front spring with a reversed eye one, lowering the front about 3" a little past 9 o'clock. Said and done, and about two hours later a new test ride was in order.
I stopped in at a gas station to fix the window wiper, and shoot this picture of the lowered front:
As I was leaving, the gear box suddently started making really weird and loud noises, and an oudor of very warm gear box oil spread quickly. I carefully drove it the 2 miles back home, and went to bed, as it now was close to 1 o'clock. So I'll be back in the garage tonight... Keep 'em kruzin! Dannerr
After disassbly and cleaning of front cover and oil pan, the new wheel was installed. Pictures of the debris of the cast iron, spread throughout the bottom:
First gasstop! Still nervous, but happy!
Sunday we dared taking the tour of the north coast, starting in Gilleleje, going to Tisvildeleje, and back home.
So far the first about 100km has gone rather painless, except a loose conection, causing the alternator to only charge some times- but it runs, and I'm glad!
