Getting ready for ESRA 2013

After some minor tweeking of the engine, I desided to change the front of the wiring, and put a pair of Volvo headlights with yellow bulbs in Ole-Henry:











Maybe a little too... but I kinda like it!

Spring in the summer

Due to missing clamps on the front spring, it got twisted the day at the gravel pit. So last night I put in new clamps- but there is a leaf missing, so I had to make a quick solution, and bended and cut a tail gate bracket from one of the 220's in to two little pipe pieces. Not a solid solution, but it will do for now.
After that I even washed the car- on the outside, at least:





I made sure not to wash the club plaque, as it might be the last time in a long while, it will have gravel mud on it.

A night at the Pirates

Succes- sort of...

I made it to this years South Island Rumble!
Friday morning:

Friday afternoon I left work with the company of Rikke and Stig in his Pontiac:
Upon arrival we shared a lemon halfmoon cake, sort of a danish garage tradition:

Saturday it rained, when we got to the gravel pit:
So the race was wet and slippery - and alot of FUN!! I don't think, I ever did 4 wheel slides before, and never dreamed, I would!

But nothing goes smoothly, and this time it was a wire in the generator, who came loose and blocked the stator from turning, so I took it apart, took out the spaghetti-like wires, and is now without, running on batery only - but still running!
Sunday we had a brunch to go to, so we had to be at a certain place at a certain time - so of course the head gasket blew out. But 1 hour 15 min later, we were back on the road (Rikke timed me)!
After brunch, we drove by the Viking Ships museum in Roskilde on the way home, where I found this eel fishing boat from Askø, the island where some of my family on my farthers side originates from:

We also stoped in to take some pictures of a very dirty Ole-Henry:



So, some overlooking of the electrical system, another generator and tightning the head gasket, and it should be good again!

So far, so good

After some hectic days, I had my first long test drive thursday, as I took the car to work:

Besides some problems with the generator, all went pretty well- after left rear wheel bearing was tightened!
So, tomorrow is the big test: the ride to South Island Rumble #8.

Assembly of rear axle

With alot of help from Victor, I got the spare rear axle assembled yesterday and today, so it can go in tomorrow:
